SARC has established a reputation in Muttom as a safe place for women to go in times of trouble. During recent disturbances in the village, when there was serious rioting, many women came to the centre to seek refuge.

Jill you will feel sad to know what is happening. Tonight we have 55 women, young girls and little children staying with us at the Centre. Together they came begging me to give them a place to spend the night. We gave them the place and our children were happy to sleep on the veranda and we gave them food. There was fighting in the village between two groups. Many people are seriously hurt in hospital, hundreds of police were in the village arresting everyone so with fear they came and in the morning they went back.
Our children are in the Centre this week because of the problems they too are in fear thinking of their parents and children, but I keep them happy telling lots of stories. Now they are busy having bath after that they will watch TV. So dear please pray for these ignorant peopleā
